I don't see a fetish as similar to sexual orientation—it is something that does reflect "something wrong", and in my own experience, DOES respond to therapy! One issue is that sexual fetishes—paraphilias—typically involve sexual activity with something that does not provide the rewards that sex with another human does.  That is, talking, kissing, caressing, oral sex, intercourse, etc.  Compared to these things, really, what does masturbating while doing something like holding on to a shoe, cross dressing, etc. have to offer?

If you read the pages HOW TO DO A SHOE, clearly the advanced shoe fetishist is not just holding a shoe or boot but actually making love with and to the shoe.  In my view it is clearly a sexual orientation and something that can't be ignored once started.

Loving, Kissing, caressing, oral sex, and intercourse are exactly what the advanced shoe fetishist is doing.  Perhaps in the beginning the fetishist is holding the shoe and using it to masturbate but that very quickly changes.  If it doesn't advance this person is just masturbating and does not have a shoe fetish and this might be easy to change.  BUT clearly this researcher at Psychology Today has not done enough real world research.

My comment is simple, I love women's shoes.  No I mean I love women's shoes to the exclusion of any woman.  

I could spend my whole life kissing fondling and really loving sexy hot women's shoes to my taste.   If I could marry a shoe I'd want to marry them all.  When things get stale I just go out and buy more used women's shoes.  

That's my view and to your suggestion of shoes high on marijuana I agree.  Now I love shoes even more passionately.  So forgive me but women might be fine but I'd rather have her shoes.

Above is an example of the more extreme of the total shoe fetish person.  They would rather make love to and fuck shoes and boots without a partner.  Although many prefer to find a cooperative partner who will also break in, model, and wear the shoes and also let them fuck them I still agree and see there are probably many who are perfectly happy just fucking shoes and boots when and where they choose.  
Checking my email there are several total shoe fetishists that prefer it that way.  Some that have partners that let them have their passion, and some that have have partners they have never told about their fetish.  The last is a bad idea, some partners can't handle it.

Before you say A SHOE FETISH IS JUST MASTURBATION THEN YOU MUST CONSIDER ALL OF SAME SEX LGBTQF IS ACTUALLY A FORM OF SELF LOVE & MASTURBATION! 

All of these are love but Its still really very simple not one of these can lead to reproduction.  Again not one child can be attained through any variety of shoe sex or same sex love.  But yes all are real love, all are fucking in the orgasmic sense and all are sex, each is a form of love, and all can lead to great satisfaction for a lifetime.  But regardless of the many terms and complexities we have created today their remains only one bottom line, "There are only two genders".  

So once again whatever your joy go for it and enjoy it but don't knock the other variations.  Shoe fetish sex is coming out of the closet just like LGBTQ sex once did.
